SAD, SAD NEWS FROM ATLANTA...

We've received word that Helene Kight Abel passed away at approximately 7PM EST on January 25, 2007. This is very sad and devastating news. Helene went into an Atlanta Hospital several days prior to have two leaky heart valves repaired. Initially the operation was pronounced a success but complications set-in and started a chain reaction of organs shutting down. She never regained consciousness from the operation.

Helene and Bruce, classmates, sweethearts and husband and wife for nearly 50 years, were very instrumental in keeping our class together. For a number of years, they have been the mainstays behind our class reunions and two of the most popular people in the Class of '60. At the last reunion, if there would have been a vote on which of the gals "looked the best and had changed the least," Helene would have been a finalist.

Several years ago, after Bruce officially retired, they made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, GA (Acworth) to be close to daughter Tiffany, son-in-law Eric, and grandchildren McKenna and Davis. Helene totally enjoyed the change of climate, being where she thought she needed to be, and playing the role of a spoiling grandmother. For Helene, it was a dream come true. They also have a loving son, Scott, daughter-in-law Lori and a granddaughter, Bridget, who live in Chicago, IL.

The funeral visitations and a beautiful memorial service was held at the Brandt Funeral Home Chapel with interment at the Allegheny County Memorial Park. Helene will be dearly missed by all who knew her...
