POPULAR SCIENCE TEACHER GEORGE BADO, 87, PASSES AWAY IN HOUSTON, TX...

The NHHS60 news has just learned George Bado, a retired Science teacher at North Hills High School, passed away March 22, 2009 in Houston, TX. He was 87-years-old.

A terrific sense of humor was the basis of Mr. Bado's popularity with his students. He arrived at NHHS from Monaca High in 1960 and remained teaching for the next 25 years.

Mr. Bado was born and raised in West Virginia and joined the U.S. Marines following high school. He served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was awarded numerous medals, including the Purple Heart.

Upon leaving the Marines, Mr. Bado enrolled at Bethany College, earned a B.A. degree and began his career in education. While at Bethany, he met and married wife Sally. Mr. Bado also served his community through the Masons, Shriners and as a member of the Allegheny Knight's Templar Commandary.

In addition to his wife, George Bado is survived by three sons and six grandchildren. A service was held in Houston on March 25th, and a memorial service was also conducted in North Hills at the Highland Presbyterian Church on April 18th...
