NHHS'60 NEWS LEARNS OF THE 2009 STROKE AND PASSING OF CLASSMATE ROBERT COSTELLO IN DEARBORN, MI

Susan Jo Barnard Costello wrote recently to pass on the sad news her husband, Robert E. Costello, a member of the NHHS Class of 1960, passed away in Dearborn, MI on February 13, 2009. Bob suffered a stroke four days earlier and never regain the ability to speak or swallow.

A memorial service was held at the Dearborn Evangelical Covenant Church and funeral arrangements were handled by Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Dearborn, MI.

Bob Costello was a brilliant man and had a brilliant career. Following graduation from NHHS, he launched a scholarly attack second to none. He blitzed through St. Vincent's College of Latrobe, attended Marietta College of Ohio, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in economics, while ranking 3rd out of 303 classmates.

Bob later enrolled at University of Michigan and went into law. He earned a law degree and his honors included, Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, Order of the Coif and he ranked 7th in a class of 322.

Bob then started as an associate attorney with a Florida firm and later settled in at Ford Motor Company as senior attorney and in-house counsel for 20 years. He retired in 1995 and is survived by wife Susan, who is a NHHS'61 graduate, and two daughters, Melissa and Heather...
