CLASSMATE JAMES "JIM" BROWN LOSES BATTLE TO INOPERABLE BRAIN TUMOR...

We are sad to report classmate, James "Jim" Brown, of Kingsport, TN, passed away at his home after a long battle with an inoperable brain tumor on Janurary 14, 2011. Jim formed the other half of "The Brown Boys." Brother Carl, who lives in Pittsburgh, was also a classmate.

After enlisting and serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, Jim joined IBM in Knoxville, TN. He spent the next 30 years working for IBM and retired from his position as a Customer Support Engineer in 1998.

North Hills classmates knew Jim as an avid member of the North Hills Chorus, and as one of the truly "good guys" in the class. Professionally, he will be remembered as a gentleman, who always conducted himself in a highly professional manner. And friends, who will miss him dearly, described Jim as a "one-of-a-kind" person who was never without a smile on his face.

Jim is survived by wife Patsy, daughter Jenny, son Jimi and families, five grandchildren, brother Carl, and his mother, Dorothy Brown. The family received friends, and a funeral service with an offering of special remembrances followed, at the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of the Oak Hill Funeral Home on January 17, 2011. Our thanks to classmate, Paul Schlemmer, who passed this information on to NHHS60 news...
