SAD NEWS FROM YORK, PA....

We've just learned that classmate George Kall passed away August 2, 2007, apparently due to a fall and fatally striking his head.

We all remember George as perhaps the brightest student in our class of 360 mates. He was a dominate force on the NHHS debate team, a member of the National Honor Society and gave the commencement speech at graduation.

George went on from NHHS to Carnegie-Mellon University where he studied chemistry and earned a BS degree. He then attended the University of North Carolina State University where he was awarded a masters degree. George joined the PH Glatfelter Corporation as a chemist and remained there for 38 years until retirement.

Along with wife Joan, George put it all together -- a successful professional career and a wonderful life as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. He played an active role in his church and community as a member of the Red Run United Church and served on the township's zoning board.

In his free time, along with spending quality time with family, George enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He could be frequently seen cruising the lawn from atop his nifty John Deere. And, we understand his Christmas light house decorations were a sight to see.

We last saw George in Pittsburgh back in February. He traveled to the North Hills to pay funeral visitation respects to Helene Kight Abel, another of our classmates, and one of George's childhood playmates and friends from Homekort Avenue in West View.

In addition to wife Joan, George is survived by four children, Gil, George III (Melissa), Elizabeth (Doug) and Denise, along with four grandchildren.

A funeral tribute was held on August 6, 2007 in York, PA and his obituary was published in the York Daily Record and York Dispatch on August 4, 2007.

If you wish to send a card to Joan Kall and the family, the address is: 2555 Lori Drive, York, PA 17404....
