English Teacher Dead at 98.....

Perhaps you had Ms. Burchinal for class and have fond memories, or perhaps not. Ms. Beryl Burchinal, an English teacher, who we believe replacded the popular "Ma" Turner as we moved from West View High to "The Hill," died August 25, 2007. She was 98 years old. Ms. Burchinal taught at the NHHS from 1958 until she retired in 1973. She grew up attending a one-room school house and actually taught in a one-room setting during her earlier teaching days. Ms. Burchinal earned her BA and MBA in education at the University of West Virginia along the way and was an educator for 43 years.
